Really consistent American Chinese food. Chicken is good quality meat, not fatty or chewy. This has been my go to chinese takeout place for a number of years. Not an interesting chinese menu and not authentic chinese, but if you have a craving for americanized chinese it gets the job done well

I did in fact like their Crab Rangoons, as Yelp told me I would. Got dragged here by some friends even though I knew it wouldn't be up to snuff. And it wasn't.I like the decor in here but the food is just...not good. Very little flavor in the chicken and eggplant my wife got, my lo mein came out cold, the dishes of our companions even LOOKED boring. Not to mention that some of us got our food, started eating, and were done by the time the rest of us got our plates. At least lunch here was cheap?

Let me add great Thai food to that list. Still my favorite watering hole. Now if only they closed at 2. :P

New heaven is a nice place to pop into if you don know what your in the mood for and are in the area. The food is pretty mediocre but hits the spot if you want some decent ordinary Chinese.

I wasn't able to find a good quick Chinese take-out place ever since I moved to Philly. I was scared to order the typical General Tso Chicken from New Heaven after reading the reviews on Yelp. But I was just craving the chicken so badly and was so hungry and decided to take the risk. I ordered my food through New Heaven's website and requested for a pick-up at 20minutes. I headed over and the food was all ready and packed for pick-up. I was getting the food at a very early dinner time (like 5ish) and was worried the food would be left-over chicken refried/reglazed. When I tried the food at home, wow!!! I didn't understand why the reveiws were so bad on Yelp. The chicken was meaty, soft, and fresh! I was very surprised and the fried rice that came w/ it wasn't "old" either. The portion was very generous too. It came w/ an eggroll too that didn't taste like it was fried 10times like most other places. I definitely found my Chinese take out place now! I am definitely coming back to New Heaven for General Tso Chicken. The restaurant itself looked clean and decent inside too! There was a full bar inside as well !

While I've never actually eaten INSIDE New Heaven, my fiancee and I order it for delivery almost weekly. In fact, its more or less our go-to Chinese/sushi delivery spot, period. One of the main reasons for the repeat business is that we have yet to be let down by the food. Also because she's not a huge sushi fan, but loves Chinese. And I love chinese AND sushi. And also they deliver ALL THE WAY to Northern Liberties - which is amazing considering half the places in Chinatown laugh at us when we attempt to do the same.As far as the food - I always enjoy the sushi. I'm no expert, but I know bad sushi. And New Heaven's is always fresh and delicious. I keep it simple - the Spicy Tuna is melt-in-your-mouth amazing, the Shrimp Tempura is banging, the California Rolls never disappoint, and the Crabmeat rolls are undeniably perfect (I've had other rolls but there are my main choices). Their 3 rolls for $10 special ("Sushi Combo #B" according to the menu) is a great deal that I always wind up going for.On the Chinese side, the crab rangoon is to die for, the pork fried dumplings are unlike any I've ever had, and my fiance always goes for the veggie lo mein and wonton soup. They have great eggrolls as well, which imo is the optimum way to truly rate a Chinese joint. In addition, the girl who always answers the phone is more than pleasant, and always gets our order right, and for a place halfway across the city, we never have to wait longer than 30-40 minutes for the goods to arrive.

The first few times I tried this place, I thought it was pretty good. It tasted fresher than other Chinese take-out places, and their crab rangoon was excellent. It started to lose it's quality taste pretty quickly though, and the filling in the crab rangoon started to taste rancid. But I will never get over the mouse teeth marks along the edges of my styrofoam delivery container. Never. Again.

Tonight was the last time I will ever order from New Heaven.Food was tasteless, while at the same time laden with a distinct aroma of fried fish, and burnt oil / dirty wok. Simple Chicken with Broccoli, and Pork Fried Rice couldn't have been much worse.I've seriously had microwave/frozen Chinese food back in the early 90's that was better than this -- tastier, faster, not smelling of fried fish, and without the burnt oil aroma. After eating a few bites, the leftovers got flushed down the toilet. Bad enough I wasted $20.....The last thing I need on top of that are the negative health effects of eating that disgusting slop, or it smelling up my apartment.UPDATE: Speaking of negative health effects, guess what I woke up to the following morning? Those "few bites" were ready to rejoin the rest of the meal in the toilet, apparently in a hurry, too.Had I eaten the whole meal, who knows. All I know is I considered forcing myself into throwing up before going to bed because of how ill I felt.I should have called the health department. The kitchen is obviously UNSANITARY. You were warned!

Just as the snowfall was about to grace the city, I was lured into New Heaven by the lunch special, and it really was a great deal. I got a bowl of egg drop soup and some sweet and sour chicken for only $6.25, which in reality is quite reasonable for dining in. Not to mention the tea was wonderful, the environment was very calm, and the staff was courteous and attentive...In the end I discovered I picked the right time to come in because it was not busy at all, I pretty much had the whole restaurant to myself until right before I left, and I was happy to be able to eat in peace and watch the news while waiting for my food. I think this will be my new go-to Chinese place in the neighborhood!
